doom, doom, gloom

I used to post on the Boston.com Celtics message board in 2005-2006 (when the Celtics were really, really bad), and argue things with people. Some of the people were really stupid (”Paul Pierce is a cancer”), and some of the people were really, really, really stupid (”Danny Ainge only likes players who dunk”), but I hung in there and argued with them. It was fun — my screen name was “Wing Players Are People Too”, and I still occassionally post on CelticsBlog.
Still, when ESPN added their “Discussion” section to their site, I had absolutely no interest in posting anything, or engaging in any kind of dialog. Why? Well, let’s just say the depth of the conversation isn’t quite what I’m looking for.
What am I supposed to say to this? Should I challenge the importance of fishing in one’s life? Maybe we argue whether Favre’s wife is hot or not?
And please — “every girl I talk to” feels the need to tell you how attractive Brett Favre is? Peter King, is that you posting?
